Sherwood Archers Clean Sweep
Four Sherwood Archers ventured into Lincolnshire for the Brass Monkey Shoot hosted by Pilgrim Bowmen. Contrary to its title it was a glorious spring-like day. Jane Burton (Barebow), Paul Moran (Recurve), Mark Burton (Recurve) and Paul Woods (Recurve) all shot an American Round comprising 2½ dozen arrows at 60, 50, and 40 yds. At the end of a long and enjoyable day Sherwood Archers claimed first, second and third place in the Gent’s Recurve, and in spite of only have 3 recurve archers, secured enough points to take the team trophy.
The final scores were:
- Paul Moran – 740
- Mark Burton – 714
- Paul Woods – 706
As the weather and the shooting calendar open up it is hoped that more and more Sherwood Archers will enter competitions around the region; old hands and newcomers alike. As was the case at Boston, shoots like this are friendly and fun. If anyone is thinking about a competition for the first time, please speak to the Club coaches who will be happy guide you – it is not as daunting as it sounds.
Thanks to Pilgrim Bowmen for being great hosts.
