Georges Newsletter Oct 2020
September and October are our busy months, with several open competitions that attract archers from a wide area, this year, of course, we have been unable to hold competitions; but we have been able to allow practice for members. Keeping to the Government and Archery GB Covid rules, which restrict us to one archer per target, timed pre-booked sessions, 5 metre safe distance and a maximum of 10 targets.
We were able to arrange the first of our monthly Frostbites, again following the Covid rules. This was a welcome club competition for the limited number who could take part. Winners were Jane Burton[flat-bow], Lee Waterfield[compound], Paul Woods[recurve], Mandie Elson[barebow] and Andy Mortimore[longbow]
The limit of 30 people on the field at any one time made it impossible for us to hold our traditional Pie and Beans Shoot on the day the clocks went back, but we were able to put on a three-session National round of 6 dozen arrows at 60 and 50 yards on the Saturday and Sunday. With so few competitions available it was a much-appreciated event, and archers from around the area were happy to make the journey to shoot the short round.
To abide by the anti-Corvid rules, these shoots had to be arranged on-line, and thanks go to our Secretary, Susan Stankovic, for her hard work in making them possible.
