Georges Newsletter Nov 2022

Our indoor season is well under way on Friday evenings and Sunday mornings, and outdoor practice is still possible on our field, weather permitting, which is not very frequent just now. We were fortunate to have a fine morning for our monthly outdoor Frostbite
Shoot on the Saturday morning before Remembrance Day and as usual we had a two minute silence before starting the competition.A cross section of our members, seniors and juniors, and first -time “Frostbiters”, took part, shooting the usual variety of   bow-styles, and enjoying the morning’s company. We are looking forward to the December meeting already.
Our main event this month was the East Midlands Archery Society’s Indoor Championship, held at Joseph Whitaker Sports Centre on Sun 20th Nov. and organised by Susan Stankovic, our Membership Secretary. Club members made up the working party to set up the shoot the afternoon before, and were there  on the day to change target-faces as needed, and to pack away afterwards. Our Chairman, Mario Stankovic, was Judge-in-Charge of the team of five Judges. The competition was in three sessions during the day, and a total of 94 entries from archers across the whole of the East Midlands and as far afield as York and London took part, shooting one or more sessions, so the hall was busy all day. Mario was also Patron ,and presented the awards:12 trophies to individual winners of the various styles;2 team shields; 6 Handicap medals, including one to Paul Woods, from our club ; and 9 visitor awards. Altogether another successful event for the Club, and we look forward to more in the New Year.
