Once again a very busy month with members shooting at tournaments around the region. Carrie and Andy Mortimore went to the 1440 [12 dozen arrows]at Kirby Muxloe and were 1st lady longbow and 1st gent longbow.
Darren Lowe went to Lincoln Archers and was 3rd recurve in the 720[6dozen arrows], with a head-to-head final round.
Shooting at Greasley Castle Archers’ Albion round[90.80 and 60 yds], Linda and Jason Millard[recurve] and Lee Waterfield[compound] all won gold medals
Our monthly club clout saw new club records set by Jane Burton [lady barebow] and Grace Fieldwick [lady under12 recurve]at her first clout shoot.
Carrie and Andy Mortimore continued their winning ways at Bronte Archers[Yorkshire], where there was a Double York round,shot over two days [6 dozen @ 100 yds,4 dozen @ 80 yds and 2 dozen @60 yds each day].Carrie set a national record for the double and a regional record for the single, and her scores qualified for Grand Master Bowman classification. Andy shot a club record for the double, and qualified for Bowman level.
Welbeck Archers held their Bank Holiday York/Hereford Shoot on what was a very windy day, and shooting had to be abandoned with 4 dozen left to shoot.Lee Waterfield was 2nd gent compound and Linda Millard, Darren Lowe and Stephen Lamb won the team award.
Mercia Archers [Staffs] held a Clout Shoot in mid-May. Mark Burton, Jason Millard and Stephen Lamb all won Tassel Awards for their scores
Finally, members took part in the first round of the County Summer League Shoot. Results are published after all three rounds have been completed, but so far we are doing very well in pure score, handicap and team categories, so we hope for good final results.
