Georges Newsletter February 2022

Most of our archery at this time of the year is indoors, and we are  fortunate to have Joseph Whitaker Sports Centre for our winter club nights for practice. The benefits of this were clear when we hosted the Notts Indoor Championships on the first Sunday in the month. Organised by Susan Stankovic, there were three sessions during the day, fully booked by a total of 97 archers with the few spaces taken by those keen to shoot twice.

Judges for the day were Mario Stankovic, Mike Thomason, Andy Kay and Bernie Dicks.

13 of our members took part, and medal winners were Paul Moran, 2nd Recurve, George Tohovitis, 1stCompound, Callum Fuller, 1st Junior Compound and Jane Burton, 3rd Lady Barebow.

A Frostbite Round on the middle Saturday afternoon lived up to its name, bitterly cold and even then, some of our hardy members shot a second round.

The Beginners Course is halfway through, and making real progress. 16 beginners including 4 juniors, some families, and some individuals. 8 coaches are on hand so that means a coach for every 2 beginners, a very good proportion and a lot of shooting.

Later in the month there will be an Open Clout competition, so that will be news in the March report.
