SHERWOOD ARCHERS

At the end of the month we held our biggest event of the indoor season so far. Organised by Linda Telford, the World Archery 18 metre FITA round attracted eighty entries from archers across the county and region to our indoor venue at Joseph Whittaker Sports Centre, Rainworth..Club member Michael Webster was the best-placed of our members taking part, winning the longbow class.

Recent strong winds and heavy rain have hindered outdoor practise sessions, but we were lucky to have a fine day for the November Frostbite shoot mid-month, the rain holding off unti lafter we had finished the two and a half dozen arrows. Best on the day were Michael Webster [recurve] Tim Austin [compound], George Brown [longbow], Alex Hawley [barebow] and Alice Wood-Stevens [junior].We shall all be hoping for a fine December shoot, with improved scores if possible!

Our indoor Beginners’ Course has attracted sixteen would-be archers, and we look forward to welcoming them as new members once they have completed the course.
