Georges News Letter Mar 2019

This month there are just two events, both of them clout shoots [archers shoot to a flag in the ground at distances up to 165 metres].

The first was our Club Clout Championship, shot on our field at Maythorne. The weather forecast seemed to have had an effect on the number of members taking part, but it was an enjoyable shoot all the same. Individual winners were Stephen Lamb, Carrie Mortimore and Alan Stevens at 165 metres, Jane Burton at 125metres and Ethan Lamb at 75metres.Championship trophy winners were Stephen [Tankard], Jane [Claret Jug] and Ethan[Mug]

The East Midlands Archery Society’s Inter Counties Clout Challenge was held at Kettering, shooting a double clout round . Sherwood Archers’ members made up seven of the ten archers representing Nottinghamshire: Mark Burton,Stephen Lamb and Lee Waterfield [Barebow]; Ashley Buckland [Compound] and Alice Wood-Stevens, Alan Stevens and David Salmon [Recurve].Our county’s best result was by the barebow team [Mark, Stephen and Lee] who came second to Lincolnshire by just eighteen points.

New club records were shot by David Salmon [single recurve 165m],Alice Wood-Stevens [single and double recurve 125m], Ashley Buckland [single and double compound 165m] and Stephen Lamb, who shot club and county records [single and double barebow 165m.

Well done everyone.

We now just have the Indoor Championships before we move out of doors for the summer/
