George Thomas Brown – 30th March 1940 – 25th March 2023

It is with great sadness that Sherwood Archers announces the passing of one of our longstanding members. George became a member of Sherwood Archers in 1987 and soon became one of our most pro-active members. He held the office of Tournament Organiser for many years introducing members to the Longbow (George’s preferred choice of bow) bringing Longbow tournaments from both Archery England and the British Longbow Society to the club. He held the position of President of the club for many years and was made a life member in recognition of his service to the club. He was always the gentleman but was always there to lend a hand or offer help if you were struggling with your shooting. As a club we paid our final respects to George by shooting the black arrow in his memory with his family present. He will be greatly missed.
