Beginners Courses
Sherwood Archers run a number of beginners courses every year, the details of the courses are listed below. Courses are in great demand and if you would like to book onto a course please don’t leave it to the last minute. Please don’t contact the club by telephone to enquire about availability. Course Dates 2024:
- SPRING – Saturday 13th, Sunday 14th, Friday 26th Saturday 27th April, Friday session from 6:30-8:30pm, other sessions are from 1.30pm until 4.30pm.
- SUMMER – Saturday 15th, Sunday 16th, Friday 21st, Saturday 22nd June, Friday session from 6:30-8:30pm, other sessions are from 1.30pm until 4.30pm.
- AUTUMN – Saturday 7th, Sunday 8th, Friday 13th & Saturday 14th September Friday session from 5:30-7:30pm, other sessions are from 1.30pm until 4.30pm.
It is important to be able to attend all 4 dates of the course of your choice as we will not be able to offer any catch-up sessions.
Location: All 4 sessions of each course will be held at Sherwood Archers Club Ground, Maythorne Cottage field, Lower Kirklington Road, Southwell NG25 0RR
Fee: Courses will be at the rate of £70.00 per person. Included in this fee is Insurance, Loan of equipment, and instruction from qualified Coaches.
At the end of the course successful candidates will be presented with a certificate of Achievement.
- All courses are run and supervised by qualified coaches.

One of the things we ask is if you are right or left eye dominant, this may sound odd but it is a factor in archery and knowing this will help us to have to the right amount of equipment available to use on the course for all participants. We will test this again on the day but it would be really helpful if you could do this yourself and give us the result. the link below is a YouTube video with 2 ways to test yourself, you will need someone to assist ideally. the video does give 3 ways, but you are unlikely to have the equipment for the 3rd option.
