Winter training sessions

Dear Archer,

We are once again running the successful winter training sessions at the Joseph Whittaker School Sports Hall, Rainworth. These sessions are open to all levels of archers in Nottinghamshire and give an excellent opportunity to benefit from coaching in a roomy, warm, well lit hall and to gain broader knowledge that will help you in your archery.

Each archer will be working in a small group with a coach. During most sessions there will be a short presentation and discussion on a topic relevant to ongoing progression in archery. To gain the maximum benefit from these sessions please come prepared to ask about any aspects of your archery – shooting technique, equipment, mental or physical  – which you feel could be of particular interest and value to you.  Your coaches have a ’tool-kit’ of training, knowledge and experience in all of these areas (and more) – which ’tools’ they use will be dependent upon your own individual needs and requirements. In addition there will be further experience available from others in the room. We want to work in conjunction with the coaches in your club, so you should come prepared with the details of what you are currently working on with your coach.

 

The general format of the sessions will be:

  • Arrival and equipment set-up
  • Welcome + (First session – introduction to Coaches and work groups, subsequent sessions- review of previous session)
  • Warm-ups
  • Shoot and score 2 dozen arrows (ends of three) – (first and last sessions only)
  • Break into work groups
  • Shooting with Coach support (check bow set up during first session)
  • Presentation and question session (sessions 2, 3, 4)
  • Shooting with Coach Support
  • General summary discussion and pack away
  • Coach discussion

 

The sessions will be held at the Joseph Whittaker School Sports Hall, Warsop Lane, Rainworth, Mansfield, NG21 0AG. Dates and times for the sessions are:

I will try to accommodate any preferences for the coach/archer groups as long as I know about them in advance.
